Notary Questions
1) A woman, at my place of employment, whom I do not know, requested a notarization. The only ID she had on her was her employer-provided security card which has her photo on and printed name. I denied her. Would that ID have been acceptable?
If her ID was from the state or federal government then you could have excepted it. Most likely it was not, so you made the correct call. Everyone should have a driver's license or a state ID. How did she get to work if she does not drive?
2) A friend has a form, for creating a business name, which has her signature and two other women’s signatures on it for a total of three people. I know the first person, personally. She witnessed the other two signing their portion of the document. Can I notarize the document based personally knowing her and she acknowledged she witnessed the other two signing?
No, she has something to gain. She is part of the document. You can not take her word that the other two signed the document. In fact, I will not notarize a document unless all parties are in front of me. That is just my choice and I feel it is the safest.
